3 Key Strategies to Optimize Your Google My Business Profile to Maximize Visibility

One of the first things we look at when evaluating a business is whether it has a built-out, actively managed Google Business Profile

Why? Well, it’s often one of the first things your potential clients see.

Why It’s Important to Have An Actively Managed Google My Business Profile

An outdated profile can significantly impact your business's first impression. It is crucial to ensure your profile is well-maintained and regularly updated.

In this blog post, we’ll review 3 effective strategies for optimizing your Google My Business Profile to maximize visibility. Do this well, and you’ll likely attract more leads to your business for free (without spending money on ads!).

1. Encourage Customer Reviews from Happy Clients

Customer reviews are vital.

If you have satisfied customers who haven't yet left a review, now is the time to ask. It may feel a bit awkward at first, but happy clients are usually eager to support your business with a review.

A simple message expressing appreciation for their business, saying how much you loved working with them, and then requesting a review can go a long way!

Pro Tip: Space out your review requests to avoid triggering Google's spam filters, which can happen if too many reviews are received in a short period!

2. Establish a Process for Ongoing Reviews

After addressing any backlog of customer reviews, it's essential to establish a routine for acquiring new ones.

In my workflow, I have a reminder to contact clients after a project launch to check in and request a review.

Incorporating this step into your process—potentially automating it—ensures that your profile remains current, accumulating positive feedback, and demonstrates ongoing client satisfaction to potential new customers.

3. Keep Your Profile Visually Engaging & Accurate

Adding photos to your Google My Business Profile super easy way to boost your branding!

Upload images of your work, products, team, or logo to build brand recognition from the first interaction.

Additionally, regularly verify that your contact information, including phone number, address, and business hours, is accurate.

Keeping this information current confirms that your business is active and ensures that potential clients can easily reach you.
